DIN rail power supplies

DIN-rail power supplies are devices characterised by a special casing with a clip on the back for mounting on a 35 mm wide metal rail. The mounting process involves pressing the power supply housing onto the rail. The special shape of the rail (resembling a flattened 'U') and the latch in the housing ensure automatic fastening, which does not require the use of tools. The size of the rail and the shape of the latch are standardised (hence the name DIN, from the German Institute for Standardisation - Deutsches Institut für Normung), which means that power supplies in these enclosures fit into any installation box, regardless of the manufacturer. The individual power supply units of this type have identical enclosure height and depth, differing only in width depending on the output power. They have screw connections at the bottom and top of the housing and the connection to the installation is via a cable.
